last night my donkey was hee hawing most of the night.i can hear the neighbors going also.just figured something like a rabbit was running around out there.this morning it was still mostly dark out.i was loading up some materials for work.the male donkey ran across the yard hee hawing again toward the female.i could see a shadow of something next to the female.i couldn't believe it.and i thought she was just a bit over weight.guess the male donkeys were celebrating.

no name yet throwing a few around.he already walked up to my wife and she was petting him.donkeys are very timid.but if an animal no matter how big goes into their territory they go nuts after it.my dog got under their fence one time.the smaller male donkey chased him full speed.the dog flew under the fence .never went back under it.

I didn't know you have jackasses too! I have two rescues and take them in and find ranch homes for them so they can be livestock guardians rather than going to slaughter!
Cute baby!

my wife called the vet today.they said we dont have to do anything for the little guy unless he lays on the ground alot.well i was just watching him.he is running laps in the yard exploring.really funny to watch.the vet said to lift his tail and see if its a male or female.so this weekend we will try to see.the vet said they nurse for 6 months then we start dewormers and a few other meds for health.perfect pet dont have to feed them minimal vet bills only have to wash out the water tube every few days and thats it.it did take me two months to build the stall though.wish my fish tanks were so easy.

LOL...lifting tails on a critter that kicks is a little hazardous. You might watch real close and when he swishes his tail...

Wow! Super cute! So it's a donkey, I thought it was deer, it is really hard for me to identify such animals. lol
Congrats on your new baby!

Don't feel bad. Few years back a guy in Montana was Elk hunting, nailed a cow elk, tagged it and loaded it in his truck and stopped at the fish and game checkpoint. Only then did he learn he had shot someone's donkey. Also heard about someone tagging a Llama.

well got a couple friends over to see the baby.they are around horses alot.funn y i didnt even think of this.all they did was walk mom and baby toward the gate to their back property.closed the gate behind mom and kept them seperated.now they just walked right up to the baby and picked her up.if mom isnt right next to her the baby is sweet and we can hug her and pick her up.mom really didnt do anything on the other side of the fence but watch.so found out its a girl.i think my wife decided on dixie for her name.
