Today we got some new friends and said good bye to some old ones. I am pleased to say that my sumpdamsel is now property of my lfs, while I was there dropping his overly aggressive tail off I picked up a small yellow tang a couple of emerald crabs and a duncan frag with 1 big head and 4 smaller ones. Because I am a clutz (putting it gently) I dropped the duncan while setting him and dropped a piece of lr on top of him, not one of my prouder moments
I figured that I had probably killed him but an hour later he was waving his head around. Seems pretty happy. The tang and the emeralds are chowing on the hair algae and loving every minute of it and my tank has more movement and colors and that is making me pretty happy too.

Congrats, looking really good. Nice new additions. You better think about what other fish you want in your tank. Now that you put that yellow tang in the tank, it's going to get established and then bully any new additions. So, might want to think about putting the rest of your additions in there soon.

is this more of a fish by fish basis or are most tangs bullys after they have been in a tank. I only have a couple more fish i want to add but I would really like to get rid of my coral banded before I throw them in. Additionaly I dont like to rapidly increase my bioload without giving the tank a little time to adjust. I really want a couple of clowns would you guys suggest I get them this week or can I risk it and hold out? I was hoping to get small ones but my coral bandit will trash them he already killed 2 chromis, I wanted to get him out before I got the tang but he is a tricky little bugger. if I get larger ones in a few weeks will they be able to get along or at least hold their own with my tang?

Yellow tangs can go either way, but they're generally a bit nasty. In fact, the only fish I have ever seen a lionfish actually kill on purpose (not eat) was an exceptionally nasty yellow tang that somebody had brought in because it beat every fish in their tank up. So yes, they have a can have a mean streak. They should be a "last" or "close to last" fish IMHO.

I added the clowns (thing one and thing two) a couple of days ago along with 3 turbos. the tang gave them a half curious look then went back to business, hasnt given them a second thought since.

More new friends yesterday. Wifey surprised me with an early xmas gift. She picked up a blue tuxedo urchin(mr puff) and a decorator crab(deek) hd has already covered himself in sponges and feather dusters and is a truly unique little goober. This brings the stock list to
Yellow tang,
Green chromis
2 false percs
lawnmower and scooter blennys
2 emerald crabs,
1 decorator crab
2 peppermint shrimp
Coral banded shrimp
4 starfish
40 hermitcrabs/snails.
Tuxedo urchIn
Everyone is coexisting nicely. I had a little bout with red bubble algae but the turbos eliminated it. Just gotta get my green hair algae under control and we will be smooth sailin
