Juvi. Clown Trigger...........?

Heey gang-I have been setting up a 55 gallon tank for a single Clown Trigger (juvi.-about 1.5 in.) It has been running for about a week now. It has been running with one of my aquaclear 300 filters I had on my established (for 1 year) 55 gal reef along with 50% of the water from my reef as well as about 15 lbs of LR from that tank as well. All levels were present for a couple days and now dropped off to almost unpresent Nitrate. I used 60lbs of Nature's Ocean LS for the substrate on the new 55. How long before I introduce him to my tank? I've been in the saltwater hobby for about 3 years now and I just need some support to help me feel more comfortable with my decision. LEt me know guys....

I'd personally say you can do it now. If your water levels are established (which they should be with the way you done it) then there is no reason not to add him. You've used 50% cycled water, used lr, ls, and a cycled filter. Go ahead and add him. He should be fine. I've personally had to move my tanks a few times and have done kinda like you just did. I've also upgraded b4 and used 50% old water with all the old lr and filters and put my fish in the new tank that same day with no stress to them. This transfer has always worked for me. Good luck.
P.S. Some people cycle new tanks with ls and take only about a week so I'm sure your tank will be fine.

Thanks bro-The more replies I get the better I feel. The Trigger is bought and my LFS is baby sitting him for me and I really want to get him out of there and into is new bigger home. I mean the LFS takes great care of his fish, I've never seen fish grow so quickly at a LFS like his fish. Always gets great stock and his prices are great. For example he gave me this juvi clown trigger for $50. Other stores around me have them from anywhere from $65-$110. I'm also itching to get this guy home!

Wow, that is a great price for a clown trigg. With the set-up your running, your water quality may be better then the store your buying it froms (most lfs anyways) meaning the transfer would definitely be okay.
Just wanted to add that you know a clown trigger will get huge someday right? You'll be okay with him in that tank for probably at least 2 years and then he'll need something else. To live his full life with you then you'll need to buy a 125gal eventually. They can get up close to 20" (usually 15-18" though). You probably know all this sense your buying him so best of luck.

Yeah I know about him getting bigger. I love this fish, one of my faves in the hobby. Right now I'm at my own place but moving out in a year and moving into my new house and that will be when I build my dream tank. As for now this tank will do. Besides, he'll be the only fish in there. I'm going to make him my little mascot.

DLight- That's the first time that Ive heard of you putting the trigger in first. But I knew that your niger was pretty mean. It could have just been that he was your first fish that you introduced. The niger thought as though the whole tank was his territory and anything that you put into it is invading his space. So that could have been your problem.
