kalkwasser clouding tank

i just got 25lbs of liverock yesterday for my 29 gallon tank. i had the kalkwasser in the tank for 3 days, with powerhead and filter going on top to circulate it to mix it. i turned on my protein skimmer to see if it could help clear it up, and it has helped a little, but it is still very unacceptible. the tank looked pretyy good before i added the lr, but when i put that in it was like a snowstorm. i tested the calcium level:490. why is the kalkwasser settling on the bottom and on the rocks. i siphoned up some today, but there is still a lot in the tank. it is circulating right now with the skimmer going, but is there another way, faster, to get rid of this.

How did you add the kalkwasser? You should test your alkalinity (or maybe you have). LR can cloud the tank on its own, but it should not leave a calcium like residue, more like grey water.

there is residue on the glass. i really want to get it off and get the tank back to normal. i added the kalwasser about a week ago by adding it to a 5 gallon bucket of freshwater, then put salt in and let it mix over night. i did this with all but 3 buckets which was in the tank as regular salt water to keep the ls going.
while im at it, what is the best way to get the calcium deposit off the tank.

Did you pour all the contents off the bucket in the tank? By that I mean, did you let the Kalk settle to the bottom of the bucket and than pour it all in the tank?

Well there is your problem :) Kalk has to be added slowly, and never to sw just fw. What happened, probably, is the salt mix has CA in it, the right amount, you just added more causeing some to come out of the solution (or it never went in). First siphon off the CA in the tank (if possible), then do a water change. If this is a new tank then do a 50% or more, if not than do maybe a 25%. Things will all come back to normal in a few days. I would highly recomend you test Alkalinity. It will be extremly low at this point. In fact raising that back will help too (the WC should help).
As for future Kalkwasser additions, Get a bucket and mix the appropriate amount with RO water, and let it stand overnight, then drip this into the tank (slowly). This will not really be important until you have some CA load on the tank (i.e. Coraline growth or corals).
Good luck
