Kalkwasser mix

Ok, so I make up a gallon of this mix for my top-off. I let it sit for 24 hours before using it in my system. I drip it slowly to maintain the level in my sump.
The question: The mixture makes a film on the top and leaves a residue on the bottom of my container. Is this undissolved Kalk mix or what? Is it suppose to have the residue on the bottom of my Kalk mix? Do I just wash out the container before making another mixture, or what?
Thanks for any and all help...

The film on the surface is 100% Calcium Carbonate. Limewater creates this when exposed to CO2. Don't add the film to your tank. The film is impervious to CO2 so it can actually help keep the limewater longer if you mix larger batches.
The stuff at the bottom is a combination of Calcium Carbonate, undissolved KALK, and precipitated impurities from the water or KALK. Don't add that stuff either, if you do your Calcium levels can actually DROP and your Magnesium levels with it.
You can rinse the residue out or not after you've dripped all the clear liquid. It's up to you. Some of it will redissolve if you add another batch of fresh water.
I mix mine in 5 gallon buckets and remove the sediment every month or so.
