We did file a report with the police but they were WAY less than helpful. WAY LESS. I actually asked the guy if we were keeping him from something more important. I asked them to finger print some things that we knew had been touched and he refused saying it would be a waste of time.
We have insurance but with only damage and a missing MP3 player I don't feel a claim would be good in the long run. Crappy thing is they not only destroyed the double door in the back by kicking it in but they tore up the framing as well. Good news is we upgraded to steel french doors and I replaced all of the framing as well as the rotten seal plate under the door. Solid as a rock now. Of course that's not stopping them from going around the side of the house and knocking out a window.
I had thought about keeping the dogs out but I'm worried they would be a "threat" to an intruder they might be killed even though they are by no means attack dogs. I'd rather them be in their cages and be safe. heck I pay insurance so my stuff can be replaced. Can't replace my furry children.
well congrats on the new doors - i'm really really gald to hear no1 was hurt. it does sound like some bored kids or some1 trying 2get in2 a gang or something saw the mp3 player thru the window and just went after it.
i think keeping the dogs in their crates is a good idea; they can still bark (which is most of the deterrent), and they'll be harder to steal!! You'd be flabbergasted to know how many dognappings there have been lately. people steal dogs and either sell them as pets or use them as bait in fights. but if they're in big heavy crates, pple wont be able to just carry 'em out.
