Keeping shrimp alive.

What would you say is the most important part of keeping a shrimp alive in a 125 reef tank?
I ask because I have tried to keep cleaner shrimp and CBS for the past 4 years, but all have died on me. I have a yellow tang ,a 6 line warssel, one white damsel and a school of green cromies. There is a CUC of 4 snails, 3 blue leged hermits(tiny) I have some corals and an anemone.
I do a 10 % weekly water change. My levels are within there perms.

I dont think they really need any special attention really. I also had 2 CBS die on me, so i would be interested in a response on that. I've had a cleaner for 6 or 7 months now, and a pistol for about the same amount of time.

Ever feed them? I feed my shrimp pellets twice or so a week... don't make them just scavenge but make sure they get food directly too.

35 - 37ppt Salinity
Iodine less than 0.07ppm (contrary to popular belief they do not require Iodine to molt)
Lots of water flow
Copper less than 0.0003
Temperature appropriate for species
Quality food

I do not have a way to test for copper, but I will ask my LFS to test for me, then write it down.
As for the feeding...I have not had a chance, they die before within a few days of adding it to the tank.
I did a 2.5 hour acclmation then slowly released it into the tank. Later that night I noticed it was no longer moving. Checked the tank for the shirmp thinking it was the molt, but i am sure it is the shrimp ,still whole. I removed it.
I am not sure on how to move forward. What are know causes for a shirmp to die?
What is the proper temp for a CBS?

If it was just a few hours the probable cause is osmotic shock.
describe your acclimation procedure. The 2.5 hours sounds pretty good but what happens during the 2.5 hours? What is the difference in Salinity between the bag the shrimp are in and your tank water?
CBS are very forgiving temperature wise. Anywhere from 75 up to 90 will be fine as long as they have time to acclimate to the temp.

I did not test the water the shirmp came in.
I use a drip line with a knot in it. Let it fill up and suck of the water from the top of the bucket with a baseter.
I let it stay around 80.
2 1/2 hours is not enough?

That should be fine.
