Kelvin Rating on Flourescents

What does the Kelvin rating do for the light? I know the higher kelvin, the hotter and brighter it will be but does it really matter for a FOWLR tank?

no not really.. it will mater if you decide down the line to put coral in. also kelvin is the color as well. lower it is the redder/orange look.
middle is white
higher is blue.

The Kelvin Color mostly only affects the aesthetic look of your tank. The bulbs are not hotter for the higher kelvin colors nor is it brighter.
