What is an acceptable range? My Ph is still low so I did this test, but don't know what a acceptable reading is.

Your pH should be in the range of 8.1-8.3, and your Alk should be around 9-10dkh
Typically water changes will bring these levels back into the correct range after you cycle your tank, but you can use pH buffer just be sure any rise in pH and alk is done very slowly I prefer to drip anything like that into my tank.

I'm trying to maintain my alk at 11.2dKH with the calcium at 440ppm. I wouldn't let it get over 12dKH or under 8dKH.

That is what my Alk is at. I am planning on doing a water change because my Ph is still a little low. 7.7.

What salt are you using? and what about buffers . . . . which are you using if any?
I have found that IO salt brings pH up nicely to 8.2. That and when combined with the correct buffer, it will stabilize there. Personally, I use seachem's powedered products for both alk and ca. Now, I dont know what the conversions are, but for alk I shoot for 3.43 meq/L with a ca of about 430ppm. I know these numbers are pretty exact, but thats just what seems to happen in my tank. I do get some flucuation, but not much.
