What is a ideal mark for kh?I did a test and came up with 17.9 ppm The test really don't tell you what is ideal. Also if it is low what should I increase it with?
Thanks

alkalinity is usually not measured by ppms so i dont know what is should be at. usually it is measured in meq/l (milli equivalent / liter) or in kH scale.
meq/l target range for reefs are 3.5-5.5
and kH is 9-12
i think.

So kh is alk? This is in the reef test in the API test kit.It just says KH Carbonate Hardness.Alkalinity I tested that last week and it was at 12 which is like 3.0 meq/l so that s a little low but ok.I just wanted to know what this test is.

Not exactly sure. I never had to alter mine yet. The test I have just utilizes counting drops. API is the brand. You count how many drops it takes to turn the test from blue to yellow. Stirring in between each drop. It should be ideal between 11-14 .

I natureer test kit I use for alk tests 14 = 3.50 but ati turn blue with 1 drop I will stick to my other test kit for Alk.

i raise my alkalanity with Kent Supermarine dKH buffer. it works pretty well for now. when i get my auto top off going i will implement a kalkwasser drip which should handle both calcium and alk.
