Killer Crabs!!

Is there any thing i can do to stop my crabs from killing my snails? I had 4-5 snails and all of a sudden 2 were gone, and the others dont move, but are sill alive and look weak. I went and bought 2 huge turbo snails, yesterday and come home to find one eaten out, and the other being picked on. So i took a stick and poked the crab off and separated them, putting the damaged snail up high on a rock. What can i do if any thing?

are the crabs hermits? and do you put algae sheets in the tank for them? (they need to eat) and do they have empty shells to move into...if not they will kill your snails just to get the shells

Yes they are hermits, and no i do not put in algae sheets. There are plenty of shell in there, and i dont think thats the case cause he would of taken the shell, so it is prob the algae sheets.

You could also drop a few small pieces of raw clams in your tank or even a some chopped up raw shrimp. Its not uncommon they could be getting protein starved. If in fact there is a pleantiful supply of shells for them to move into and they are attacking your snails, IMO they are hungry. Try feeding them once a week but raw fish stuff. Algea shouldnt be an issue for them to get if your tank is even a month old. But protein is a different story.

Are you sure the crab caused the death or if the crab simply ate a dead snail? How did you acclimate the snails?

This is 100% correct also maybe you wanna try 2 or 3 MEXICAN TURBOS thier like 3 inches long and are still going strong for almost a year, with about 30 hermies of all sizes in my tank.
