Your amonia shouldn't be that high. Is there something dead in your tank that you've overlooked? My green brittle star loves pieces of shrimp and it seems to keep him/her from spending too much time chasing my fish. You have to watch these kinds of starfish though becasue if they get hungry they can be very sneaky.........

the amm could just be from test kit. my test always shows some but when tested at lfs there is nothing.

I agree with Mr Bill, I have a brittle also, it's getting quite large, and it has never bothered anything.

there might be some remains of some of the missing fish but I couldnt find any--I just assumed the star would handle all remains even if the fish died from other causes. I didnt think the ammonia was that high to cause fish any stress.

with regards to the above post, I made a mistake and got the numbers wrong. Got home and checked and ammonia was 0 and phosphates was between 0.25-0.50
