Hmmmmm.....I don't believe I'd take that path. Instead I just allow coraline to eventually cover the PVC .... looks much more natural and probably is much safer.

If you just have to color the pvc get a can of Krylon Fusion paint, its made for PVC and works fine. Once dry it is not harmfull, and its used by lots of folks in aquariums.

How long do you let it sit before putting it into the tank? I ask this because as paint dries the solvents need to outgass, and this occurs until the paint is fully cured which for some types of enamel (Which I believemost rattle cans are made of) can take up to a month.
