No one has mentioned getting a Smart Car yet. Anyone got any opinions on them? I am seriously considering getting one. i could kick myself in the butt for selling my 5 speed 3 cylinder metro 2 years ago. that thing got 50 miles to the gallon. i think i may look for another one just for local driving. i now have a 2007 G6 that gets about 30 miles to the gallon.

I have driven Smart Cars around most of Europe but they really are NOT what people make them out to be.
They are novel and fun to play with since they are so very easy to park. No one mentions the glaring negatives.
They drive like go-carts....complete with drive train that feels like it was made by briggs and stratton. Made by sub of Benz but absolutley devoid of luxury or refinements you would expect from the pricetag.
They are so rediculously priced that the savings is moot when you pull the wool off and see they only get about 30mpg, maybe 35mpg if you aim for it. They are much safer than they appear but a complete pain to grocery shop or fit in if your the typical American. I fit comfy in them since I am trim but I am still well over 6ft and over 200lbs. Funny to stand back and look at myself as a small individual by our national averages.
They seat only two occupants. I drive a Coupe here in the states so it doesnt bother me, but to try and play off like it is a realistic vehichle for someone to own as sole transportation in this country is rediculous.
