Im setting up a 58g oceanic reef ready (36x18x21), it will be a mixed reef, mostly softies and lps with a few sps mixed in, About 70lbs live rock stacked in the center. Im trying to decide on which powerheads to get, I have a mag 9.5 return I estimate at 600 gph after plumbing and head losses, I was thinking of going with either 2 koralia 2s (600gph), or 2 #3s (850gph) or a combo of the two. What do you think would provide the optimal amount of flow?
2 #2s 1800 total gph ~30 times tank volume per hour
2 #3s 2300 total gph ~40 times tank volume
1 #2 and 1 #3 2050 gph ~35 times tank volume
Thanks for any help, and if anyone has some used ones for sale, please let me know.

I think with the size of your return pump I would go with two #2s

I got 2 #3 in my 75gal reef and I get good flow but still wish I got the #4 instead of the #3.
With the dimensions of your tank I'd go with the #3 these are really good pumps and I'd hate for you to be disappointed because you undersized.
good luck

I was thinking The # 3 was a bigger diameter but it is the #4 that is bigger in size.
you could also go with 3 or 4 #2s to cover more dead spots.

I had two #4s in my 75G, I wasn't happy so I went to 2-6055 Turbelle NanoStream and one #4 (if I ever save enough money I'll replace the #4 with 2 more 6055). I guess what am saying is you can try 3 or 4 #3s and may be happier than 2 #4s

It looks like 2 #3s is the way to go. I dont want #4s because they are so big, expensive, Tunze would be nice but way out of my price range (I found #3s for $29.99 brand new). Thanks for all the help.
