I alternate between silversides, angel and butterfly frozen cubes and seaweed strips about 2 times a week.

I can say the color started to change like this 2-3 weeks ago. Food has been the same.

well it is very important for angels at this stage to get a lot of vitamens and sponge in ther diet. find a fish store that has the food and yes i agree with what your lfs told you but it needs to get the sponge and vitamens that it needs during its transformation. so this is what i propose to fix the problem, get your water in great condition and buy the fish food. when you go to buy it ask for the food that has the sponge and read whats in the food and make shur all the good stuff is in ther. if things dont get better inthe next week or so you might haft to make a post in the desiase forum. oh and welcome to the sight sorry that this is the reason you joined.

Thank you. There is a lot of info here. I have been reading here for a while but never had to post. Was able to always find answers by research.

This is a pic fro the other side. It does occasionally scratch on the bottom and twitch it's fins.

ok, that can mean two things. one he is realy stressed out frome some thing, or he has parasites. i would think about making a post about this in the desiase forum it "could" mean he has ick or some type of parasite. i would post the strange behavior and explane his situation. or it could haft to do with teritory and the changes. all that could be stressing him out. i would do what we discused earlyer first. then keep a close eye on him for the next few weeks and keep him as stress free as posible. if things get wors post. but it probaly wont. oh and how many times a day do you feed him?

I agree with trigger40 that this could indicate stress, but your water params sound good. Have any new fish been added to the system that might be having a territorial issue with the angel. Also, be aware that when the large angels change color in captivity they generally do not develop the beautiful coloration normally seen in the ocean, but are frequently pale. This might be what you are seeing with this fish. Continue to give it a varied diet with whatever sponge you can find and perhaps add a marine vitamin mix. Good luck!

Just an idea. If u can find good cured lr alot of times u can find sponge on it. Not a cheap way to feed but its an option.

As soon as he took the live rock out to transfer it the sponge would die. At least that's what I've found in my research.
