OK. I have a someone easy question. My wife likes Koran angels, and so do I. Before we go out and get one, I want to ask an interesting question. Every book I have read or person I have talked to up until this past weekend showed Korans as staying the black with blue and white semi-circular stripes as adults. I then came across a book at a fish shop I visited while out of town, and they showed an adult as being a light greenish blue fish. I've seen Korans in fish stores that are pretty good size, and yet still the black with stripes. When do they change color, or was that a misprint in the book I was reading? Thanks.

Yes, They Will Change Colors. Also Make sure you want the Karan and not the Emperor Angel. Both Look Similar as (Juv) but alot different in Adult.

No misprint, they do change when they are older. I'm not sure how old they are, but they change into beautiful adults. I'll try to find a good picture and will post it for you. I don't think you'd be disapointed in the adult. Later Lisa :D

Here's a Juvenile Koran (actually, the text it was name for should be spelled Quran or Qur'an, but what the heck)...

Here's an adult Koran... BTW, I've seen them much brighter and prettier than this...

Here's a juvenile Emporer (Imperator)...

Here's an adult Imperator...
hope this helps!

Thanks. I know all about the Emporer (Imperator) Angel. They are REALLY nice looking in my book. We have the opportunity to get a very healthy looking Koran from a very respectable fish shop about 1 hour from us for about 50% of what they yahoos here in town charge. Our LFS has really gone down hill in the past couple months, and the other store received more Korans than they ordered, so they are trying to move their stock on them. Thus the good price.
Now if I could just find out how long they stay with their Juv. coloration. It isn't that big of a deal, but none of our other tank inhabitants change coloration as they get older, so it will become a popular question when people he him and we say that he will change color....

I bought my Juv Koran about 3 months ago, he was about 4 inches at that time. He finally started showing signs of changing recently, hes about 5 inches now. Hope that helps, and I can't wait until mine changes, they are beautiful.

Hey SCY, just wondering how big you Koran is at 8 yrs. I'm not sure how old mine is, it's about 4.5-5" right now. Cool fish and it gets along well with it's tankmates...at least for now. I have seen the pic posted above but I've also seen other pics of adults that were a lot more flattering, not sure if it has to do with the stage of adulthood they're in or not.
