l/r just got it from lfs today now what ?

just bought l/r from local store, there is some growth on it orange and some green. I was told about the mantis shrimp, I donot want any comming out of my rocks, I hear they can even crack a tank.
1 ? I want to clean the rock and get alot of the critters out and then store the live rock in a 40 gal holding tank till Im ready .
2? I purchaced live agornite sand today in 20 lbs bags, how long will that stay live in the bags.
I will be ready by wednesday /friday to put everything in my 90 gal.
Need some help guys

"you were told about the mantis shrimp"????Did he tell you there was a mantis in the rock you bought????If not I wouldn't worry too much about it,they are not found in every piece of rock out there...
Why on earth would you want to clean off the Rock??? Those "critters" are what you want...That is why we pay up to 8bucks a lb for ROCKS!!!The more life on,and in the rock the better...
The sand should be fine till you set the tank up...Is this sand prepacked,like Natures Ocean???Or did it come out of one of the LFS's tanks??? Either way it will be fine till you setup the tank.

Well thats what I thought in the first place LIVE IS LIVE,
I didn't mention that my tank is mostly going to be fish .
So whats the whole story about cured and un cured rock,
is one any better then the other.
