Largest Chiton

Talk about a hitchhiker!!

This guy popped up about 4 months ago and never was able to get a good picture of him. He's probably about 3"

That is a big one!

I had one that was about 15 mm that ate coralline algae, but I haven't seen it in months.

I dont believe that he eats corraline. I wouldnt mind it if he did, I usually scrape the back off anyway.
He moves veeeerrrrrryyyyy slow...

I think there is one called the "gumboot" chiton that lives off of the Pacific Northwest and they can get over 12" long!

Tizzo, I think it was your pics from vacation that inspired me to finally get a good pic of this one.
In person, it looks like he should be in a bigger tank, out of place almost.
And he made the move to my new place somehow. We didnt separate him with rest of the inverts. Definitely an algae eater, although only comes out late at night when lights have been out for awile.
