I wish you and your RG the best.

well Steve the RG has been hiding all morning I feel that I may have to make a trip to the keys today and let him go I really think I have done all I can to get him to start eating again the best thing I can do now is let nature take its course in the open ocean Just realized I cant do that today my salinity is 1.009 I will slowly bring it up over 4 days guess what is meant to be will happen in my tank

I don't understand why the Hypo if the fish wasn't showing any signs of ick.

[/QUOHe was scratching there were no visible signs of ick but he could have had in inside his gills or mouth it was roll the dice and start hypo or wait until it was full blown if in fact it was ick

Ok. Well I hope he pulls through. As far as releasing him, I'm sure there will be someone along to flame on that but it won't be me. I do however think he'll suffer the same fate if you flushed him. If you were somewhat closer, I would take him if it comes to that.

I think it’s a moot point about releasing him he has not shown him self all day I took my water to not one but three LFS in the area to compare my results with theirs and all were well with in parameters I also asked why no RG in stock the two said they had no real call for them the third with I frequent often Saltwater solutions (Im sure people on the boards in this area are familiar with) said to tell you the truth "they just don’t live long after we get them"

Hey Joe, just got back and had to check on your RG--sorry to hear he's not doing too well. I dug out the log on my blackcap, a close relative of the RG. I got him and acclimated him (in copper) along with my spiny boxfish. The BC ate mysiss on the 2nd day (1st time I fed them) then didn't eat for 5 days. He's been doing well since then. Seeing how you're at the point of nothing to lose and your SG is low anyway, maybe toss in a couple mollies from your lfs. I've always felt, but can't prove, that most fish do better when they have to compete for food & space. Some folks will think this is terrible; but when I order just 1 fish, I often also get a cheap chromis, just to acclimate them together. I'd get a damsel, but they're too aggressive in QT for me. When the new fish goes into a DT, the chromis is tossed to the lions (literally). Are you still using a pinch of cyclop-eeze, just to stimulate the appetite? Don't throw in the towel, like others have said, fish can fast for quite a while.

Sadly my chronicles came to an end this morning with the death of my Royal Gramma this will be the last time I attempt to keep one looking back I don’t think I would have done any thing different other than perhaps waiting for more definitive signs of ick before starting hypo Lost in all this is the fact that I also have a comb tooth blenny in an other QT undergoing hypo he is in his 4th week doing great and I will start increasing the salinity over a weeks time. I am awaiting the arrival of my fish trap and will chronicle my attempts at catching my Sixline and putting him in time out so I can put my blenny in my DT with out any harassment

Sorry to hear the news, Joe. You sure gave it your best shot and, IMO, didn't do anything that caused the loss. I'm repeating myself; (not uncommon) but, I just think most of have a nemesis or two. Just something in the complex biology of a species that doesn't fit with our own way of doing things. Like me & porkys. Good luck with the fish trap; funny, what we do to get a fish into a tank, then getting him out is next to impossible. At least getting him out unharmed.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I am very lucky mine made it through. I recently lost a Flasher Wrasse in QT. Not going to try that one again. Good luck with your additions.

Joe,
I am sorry for you. I was reading your chronicles daily. I know that you really cared for the little guy just judging by all your posts and keeping us all informed. Hey, how about a Bicolor Pseudochromis? I'll be in touch.
