lawnmower blenny eating habits

My tank is fairly hair algae free, very little, but the LMB insists on trying to get food off the rocks and glass when there is not much to be had. Ive put algae sheets on the rock, on the glass, everywhere, but he wont take it. Should I assume he's getting enough sustenance elsewhere.. or should I be worried?

so the blenny isn't eating any food you're adding? could we get a pic to tell us if the fish is starving? does the blenny look skinny?

yea I had a lawnmower in my old 75 and it had algae and he was a PIG..then when i downgraded to a 20L he died from starving..would not touch any food I added or anything. Also same thing I had one in my new tank and not enough algae. he was getting really skinny..I even put in the seaweed freeze dried stuff on the veggie clips..wouldnt touch it. So i got lucky and caught it and took it to the LFS and asked them to place it in their 180 that had TONS of algae...they put the bag in there but when i went back few days later no blenny. I dont think they put it in there once I left.
Personally i dont think this fish should be considered beginner and and easy to care for like they list..if you just do not have enough algae they will starve.

I'd think if there wasnt enough growth he'd accept the sheets but maybe not.

I have a LMB in my 72 and have had him for 7 months. He is fat and growing. He is constantly picking at the rocks even though I don't see any algae on my live rock also. I feed algae sheets once a week for a few of my fish and after about 4 months he started eating some also. Like the other posts say, if he is fat and very active, he is probably happy and healthy.

i have a lawnmower blenny in my 12gal and he is doing just fine. he is not fat and not skinny. i think he is just right. he eats the algae on the glass.
believe it or not sometimes he eats formula 1.

I had a LMB for almost a year until someone who will remain unnamed for their own safety, introduced possibly something to my 55 that killed everything while I was away. The LMB ONLY ate by scraping algae off the rocks. It's there, even if you can't see it, and it is most certainly their choice for meals. Mine grew quite a bit and without fail, if the lights were on, she was scraping!

one of the maybe 3 cases I have ever heard of where a LMB will eat something they are actually fed. Congrats!

mine eats anything i put in the tank. flake, mysis, algae sheets, formula 1, lettuce, and i also dont clean one side of my tank so theres some neat growth he has to graze on. hes quite plump and is one of my favourite fish. he also survived the ich outbreak i had last year so hes a tough little guy
his name is George

I have an emerald crab that goes to great lengths to getthe algae sheets. I've got two of the crabs one could care less and the the other is insane. He pushes himself up on the rocks then leans over backwards to get it, all the while Bennie(thats the LMB) is all over the tank sucking glass.
