Leafy Sea Dragon

You actually can't keep them without permits that aren't easy to get.
Where did you see this one?
Nice photography.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey has the leafy seahorses. They are really cool to watch and they are in a really nice large aquarium with real plants, live rock, etc. If you ever go to Monterey, they are near the children's section. Try to get there at feeding time. They are really s-l-o-w eatters!

TY! I love this beauty! I photographed this one and more at Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN. I don't know if the Ripley's in Myrtle Beach has them . . . ?
I have more without leaves if you would like to see? These were shot last year or the year before; didn't fare too well my recent trip (last weekend) because my light was very, very poor but the Sea Horse has grown quite a bit!

Have many amazing shots of many fish and I don't know what they are! Remember, I'm a photographer but I'd still love to have a saltwater aquarium - it's just not the right time for me!
More to come . . eventually!

Why would you even ask if wed LIKE to see them? Of course we would! lol, well I thought the recent 2006 october exotic animal ban made it illeagal to keep them because they were endangered now? Well even if not, they are one of the most beautiful creatures ive ever seen in the marine world.

Thanks peeps! I've been busy this week with a sick child. Head to toe hives with no explanation - spending hours at the doctor's office is no one's idea of fun but he is better. I'll try to work some of the other shots and the Sea Horse this eve.
I'm hoping to get to Myrtle Beach before school starts and Ripleys will be a definite stop - if we make it. Gas prices do prevent even a weekend trip to MB even when it's only 4 hours away.
I'm babbling - can you tell I've been offline?

More to come and thx again. Oh and I had heard about 2 years ago that you couldn't or it was quite difficult to own these babes due to the massive exporting. I wonder what and how much it would really take if a person was seriously wanting one or two Sea Dragons?
I'll have to research that for a hoot - can you tell I'm bored?

Have a great day and I'll be back!

Public aquariums can keep them. One in the US actually got theirs to breed this year. They've been banned from the trade for many, many years but that doesn't stop some people from getting them. A guy from Japan, on another forum, has a mated pair and has had luck getting them to produce eggs but is yet to have them actually develop and hatch. Maybe someday tank-bred dragons will be available. Hopefully at a severely hefty price to discourage less than capable people.
