I've had my tank now for about a year and it had leaked out the back of the hood and in between the background and the glass. Are Eclipse tanks notorious for this problem? I am so frusterated :( Any imput?

I never heard of this problem before. Is it actually leaking from the filter???Or is it just from eveporation and condensation???How high is your water level in the tank??Do you have a bubbler?? The bubbler may be splashing water on the inside of the hood as the bubbles pop. Then this water is running down the back.Is the filter element dirty and causing an overflow??Could the return be clogged ,also causing a backup..Just a couple of guesses. But if the filter itself is leaking, you should try to take the hood back for a replacement...

I have the same problem and it is the filter that gets clogged up & causes the water to raise in the filter compartment.you have to keep an eye on the filter. When I replace it it takes care of the problem.I don't know why mine gets clogged up so quickly but I have to replace it pretty often.

you have to make sure to keep your eye on the filter media i replace mine every other week, another way to improve the filtration is add a sponge filter on the intake to help filter out some of the big pieces. a polyfilter can also be put in the filter compartment and if you dont use the biowheel use that compartment to put a bag of carbon..
if its because of evaparation i used pieces of an old rag and placed it in the gaps between the tank and the hood.
hope this helps..

Thank you for the idea of putting a rag in the gap... that sounds like a good idea. I just replaced the filter cartridge, Floss side up, right? The water level is about 1" from the top. The water in the filter chamber is a little higher than normal. It just seems like condensation to me though. My bio wheel barely turns, what do I do about that?

I have lr no ls or cc,bare bottom tank i do have a good amount of liverock.ammonia 0 nitrite o nitrate 30-40.Is this nitrate being caused by the bio wheel?Should I remove the bio wheel even though I don't have ls?I've cut back on feedings to every other day and will do 20% water changes every week to try and reduce my nitrate.I know this nitrate level is ok for fish but not for coral.I would like to put in a small piece of coral in about 2 weeks, any suggestions on a nice coral? Thanks!!

1month running but put live rock and water from a 55 i took apart also have some hermits a few mushrooms a royal gramma a small perc a few polyps they all used to be in the 55 I would like to put in a bubble coral or a leather but I will wait and do water changes and try to reduce my nitrate before adding anything else in the tank.Patience is hard but I know I must restrain myself.I have the retrofit pc 32 watt smartlamp.
