Leaky Tank

My tank has a leak in it on the bottom. It is small for now and dosnt leak a whole lot, but im sure in the near future it will get worse. What is the best method of repairing the leak. Any suggestions? I really dont want to drain my whole tank...

very positive...the leak keeps getting salt build up around it.

do you have your hands in the tank?? i once thought i had a leaky tank but it was dried salt after i had been messing around

Well I thought about that but its happend everyday in the same spot.

here in australia they sell a silicone tube for gutters that can be applied even if the surface has moisture so im sure if you go to a plumbing place you will be abble to get some . let us know how u get on.
(rick) but long term it may pay to look into another tank

But I still have to drain the tank right?? Or will it allow you to apply it under the water?

use acetone to clean it. you wife should have some for painting her nails. It's important to prep the area and clean well. Then give it at least 24 hours for the silicone to cure. It stinks i've been there but its very fixable

I would just like to make sure we are clear here before you rip down your tank. You stated that you see salt creep in the same spot every day. Is the salt DRY or WET?? I have seen where tanks may have water getting over the top with a overflow or powerhead in a compleatly diferant area and running down the tank. then it gets stuck in the plastic bottom part of the tank and runs to the lowest side of the tank. (maybe in the front) and the creep will show up in a compleatly different spot then where the water origanated from.
this would most likly show up as dry salt creap though....
I would just want to be very sure there is a leak before ripping it down only to not be able to locate the leak....that would REALLY suck

It is wet when I wipe it off. I have a glass top and a hood so I dont think it is water that is splashing over. Im with you..I dont wanna break my whole tank down and then find no leak. I dunno what to do. This sucks...
