Leather question..

Here are a few pics (with my old camera.. looking for a new one) of my 200 3 months old. The leather has a discolored area that is slowly growing. Should I trim it? I have been told different things to do about it.. Thanks

Any help with this last pic? I used a turkey baster (good tool) to take off some debris from that area since the pic was taken.. it was brown and mucous like.. also a very small amount of green algae there.. Leave alone, or cut it off?

It doesnt look like there is anything near it to sting it, but was there? If it was shedding (which they do), it would look more like peeling sunburn, not brown and mucous like. I can't say what to do, but if you do have to cut it off (which I have), it will grow back in time.

Thanks. "He" wasn't stung. Soemone suggested to keep him clean, and make sure there is good water flow around him. When do you decide to cut??

if it's rotting (i.e. crumbling) i cut. cut it slightly more than the affected area if you do cut.
but try siphoning the crud out first. you may need to scrape the area and siphon. just like us, corals can get infections. sometimes they move fast and sometimes the infections move slow.
scrape first (lightly) and watch it. if it comes back i would think about slicing the area. (kitchen scissors/shears are very effective, quick snip) you can scrape the algae off too.
some billowing flow is good, intermittent/wave action.
