I have a Laether Toadstool and lately it hasnt been spread out, its been out, but squeezed together toward the light. Everything else in my tank is doing really well, and out. I just tested the water and its fine for ammonia, pH, and Nitrites.

They shed? About every how often do they shed?
My Readings:
NO2- <.3mg/l(probably ZERO)
pH 8.0
NH3/NH4+ 0mg/l
My tank is a 50gallon DT, with a 10g Refuge, 192 Watts of PC lighting. I took off the glass top and so the light is direct and the toadstool is at the top of my tank.

Yes they do shed. I used to have one in my old tank and it would shed every.. 6mo. or so and its fairly slow 1 or 2 weeks sometimes.. but omg they spread and and come out 10X better than they looked before.

The change in light could be effecting it. Either that or lack of water movement from adding new things. Also your, what looks like, frags of SPS (left) and mushrooms (right) could be trying to sting the thing at night? You ever watched to see how far their tentacles actually extend? Cause that is a prime piece of real estate you have him on, LOL.

I think it is just shedding, because when it gets stressed it shrivels up. It looks healthy as well, Ill keep yall updated.

I had one that I thought was history. All the tentacles were withdrawn for about two days then is when I started worring, But I read up on them and found out that they do indeed shed. A clear or somewhat whitish film comes off of them every so often ( don't know how often) It is just something they do....mine took about a week or a little longer...
