LED in a reef

Hello, i was wanting to know what LED lighting fixtures were compared to other lighting systems. I just cant tell what the output of lighting is on LED's and it is measured in Lumens but i have no idea what they are. Someone please HELP!!!

yeah, that is what i am talking about. Using a led lighting system as your primary lighting system. how do you tell if it is bright enough for your corals?

in a google video of that light it sppecifically says that ...
id go with t5 or mh

We have a LFS in Sacramento that makes them as individual tubes. He has a display set up with about 10K worth of corals and they all look great. Mostly hard corals. They don't produce heat at all and save a bunch of electricity. They are expensive though initially.

the "k" i believe was reffering to thousand, as in "He has a display set up with about $10,000 worth of corals and they all look great."

Is the K rating on LED's variable? The only system I'm familiar with is the Solaris, which is 14K afaik.

I've seen em too. Very nice corals! But pricey as hell. lol

Oh yeah...you are from Sacto too...so you know the place I am talking about in South Sac? That is where I bought my tank. That guy in there is a good salesperson. I planned on going in there and just buying the glass aquarium and building my own stand and everything. He almost had me walking out of there with aquarium, stand, canopy and those LED lights. I had to tell him no finally and stick with the original plan.
