LED Lights

If I wanted to do a DIY LED light setup, how many lights would I need? The tank is 72" x 18" x 22"

Seems like most people are doing about 1 LED per every 10-20 square inches of surface. You're probably going to want optics too.
Have you been looking at some of the DIY threads on the other forums?

a good build here all needed items for a 48 in build i think. The author has had very good results from it.

My husband has been looking into this a lot lately. There's a lot of people on MR doing it, check there. I think Wingo has a write up about it (I know he sells them now, so he might not).

I'll be building a set for my 125g in a month or so and I will post detailed info on it here if you can wait and see how it turns out.
