I was thinking of getting a lemon peal angel for my tank. I was wondering if any one seen this kind of fish in a store. Do you think it is beutiful. The only angels I seen at the store so far is the biocolor angel, midnight black angle, and the flame angel. I am new to this hobby which I am getting my tank next month and might get another one in decemeber.

IMO I don't think its as pretty as some of the other angels and they can be aggressive once established in a tank so its best if you add him last to your tank. They also eat polyps and pick at corals.

I had a lemon peel angel when I first started my tank (no longer here and thats another story). I liked it, was pretty, but as I added more fish it wasnt so pretty anymore, but I still liked it. I did see it pick at my LR, not sure if it was a bad thing or not..."left" me before I really got to know if it was bad or not (and that was my own stupid fault).
what it looks like: It is all yellow (like the yellow tang color) with purple around its eyes (like eyeliner) and purple at the tips of the fins.
IMO I definately liked it better than the Bicolor angel.

I've tried introducing lemon peels into my tank on multiple occasians and never have I been able to sustain a fish for more than a few weeks. As most angels, the lemon peel is a picky eater and extremely shy. Mine ended up wasting away of hunger on both occasions. I tried everything but he just wouldn't eat. Like yourself I was hooked in on its beauty but I could never keep them for any length of time. It might be just me but thats my experience with them.

Also, I just remebered. You said that you were getting ur tank in the near future...it is recommended that angels of any sort be introduced into a well established tank, sometime after 5 months. If your looking for hardiness try the coral beauty or flame angel both fish are very hardy, active, and mine eat like horses.

I have a Lemon Peel and it is my favorite fish. I agree that there are prettier fish out there though. As far as picky eaters, I have heard that also. My particular one is not. It will eat anything I give it. I even feed it plain Jane flake food through an auto-feeder when I am on vacation. Angel fish are grazers so they will pick at some corals, but picking algae off LR shouldnt be considered a problem, in fact, I wouldnt put an Angel fish in a tank that didnt have LR in it.
