my some what local fish has small 9 inch leoperd sharks they have 8 of them and 2 horns i am going to get a leoperd saturday they are $99.99 what to feed i aloso herd that u can stunt there groth :D :D

why would you want to stunt there growth? if you can't give them a tank to keep them at actual growth dont by them, they are a colder species of shark so you may need a chiller but i have heard you can keep them at a reasonable temp. plus they get about 7 feet long, dont buy it unless you have atleast a 500 gallon tank.

yeah, why would you want to stunt thier growth? hey dlight, i would say they need more than 500 gallons getting to be so big. a leopard can get 8 plus feet. nurses get even bigger, up to 12 plus feet. they are really only suited for public aquariums. if you have atleast a 300 gallon you could go with one of the horns. i really am not into sharks in the hobby, i just dont think they should be kept, but thats just my opinion, so take it for what its worth. sharks cant have a big enough aquarium; they need as much room as possible. i would never put any shark in anything under 300 gallons. later, bo

oh, i thought they got bigger than that. thanks for the correction. they need large aquariums, at least twice the length of their body. really i would say they need about a 800-1000 gallon tank. they do come from cooler waters around california. dont get him, you dont know what your getting into. later, bo

yA I agree, i dont think that sharks should be kept in a home, period . but a 1000 gallon could do it but no way would i suggest it at all! very hard, and what happens if you need to get it out of the tank for some reason?? your going to need a big big big fish net.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind that you are going to get the shark. Well, as the Nike ad says "Just Do It" but don't expect too many people here to agree with you. It's irresponsible to keep an animal of that size in the tank you are considering.
But there is also no one to stop you - mores the pity.

You could keep a leopard shark in 180 for a few months, although I would go with a smaller shark like horn or bamboo... Yes, you can stunt their growth by putting them in a small tank, but it makes them more sick, and ill!! 1500 is kind of big, but not for the kind of shark you are getting.... you could keep about 3 horn or bamboo in a 1500gallon!!! maybe eels or rays would be a nice touch in a 1500... e-mail me if you have anymore questions! THE bigger the better!!!
MEGALODON'S NEED A 10,000,000 GALLON TANK--- THEY ARE THE PREHISTORIC GREAT WHITE SHARK
INTERESTING TRIVA!!

leopard sharks get too large, dont get it till the 1500 is setup, sharks live for a long time, so put them in a tank that they will live their whole lives in. 180 gallons, i wouldnt put any shark in a tank under 300 gallons, but if any sharks were to be put in 180g, i would get a Bamboo shark with nothing else in the tank. I have a shark tank up now, its a 500 gallon. I have a Bamboo shark, snowflake eel, blue spotted stingray, and im getting a lion fish. but no matter what tank, dont put a lot of decoration in it.

Ok do you have any idea how much this $99 animal is going to end up costing you. A chiller for a 180 gallon would probably run about $800. Its like running a window air conditioner all the time so your electric bill is going to go way up. You cant just toss a cube of Formual 1 in every day and expect it to live. Whne it grows big its going to need frsh sea food and huge amounts of it. Also, you said you were going to build a 1,500 gallon to keep it in. Do you have any idea how much its going to cost to keep that tank cold. The chiller alone is going to be at least $2,000. You also have to remeber that any kind of metal or electricity is going to cause the shark to go nuts possibly leading to its death. DON'T DO IT!

Is there any kind of shark you can keep in a 200 gal or smaller? Do they all get huge? I like sharks, I don't know anything about them and I'm curious? Later Lisa :D

if you have to have a shark...get a bamboo they aren't as big and (correct me if i'm wrong) they don't require the lower temps that a leopard shark does.
