So for a week now i've been researching and reading till i go blind trying to find out what the best lighting system i can get for my new 150g tank. Thanks to many of you and web site after web site. And of course the Lfs. which doesn't have anything my size in stock. Anyways I want the full reef tank corals, anemone, clams, ETC. So how does this sound for a deal Odyssea Metal halide 72" 785w 20,000k 175 watt HQI bulb (3), 65 watt Actinic Blue cf bulbs(4), Bluemoon leds(12) cooling fans, hanging kit, External ballast, all for $400.00
Will this do the trick and is considered a fair price all impute is welcomed as usual.

that the exact same light I have on my 180 and it is awesome. I did take the blue actinics out and change them to 10k 50/50 actinics. but the light has been flawless so far after 5 months. and thave several friends who have them also.
I would buy again in a flash...

I would go with 2 400w mh's 14000k and two moon lights
you can find it cheaper than an odesy + you will need more light tan 175 on a 24 inch deep tank jmo

thanks sign guy. I just wanted to show him the tank with the lights for the colors and so forth and also to let him know that the lights penetrate to the bottom nicely...which is why I put the pic of the clam in there>>>
also timsta if you search ....that light comes in a 3x250 watt model now also...for about the same price

I am getting a 180 in the spring and thought that 3 250 mh's would't be enough power. how fast do your corals grow?

250 watt MH, will work perfectly for a 24 inch deep tank. The 400 watt's are more for the 30 inch deep tanks. I wouldn't get the 175 watt, those of more for around the 18inch deep tanks..
