I'm debating between compacts and halides, wondering if halides are worth the extra penny...and chiller

AWESOME! If I go MH I'm getting 2 400wat pendants, if i go pc one 400...the one thing which I like best about MH is you can see the rays of the light

The refracted rays of light is definitely what pushed me over the edge for the MH's. Getting a great deal on them didn't hurt either though.
My system was stable and happy with 260 watts of PC for more then a yr. When I decided on the MH's, I was planning to tear down my PC fixture and retro it into the canopy but decided against it b/c I had a friend in need of more light and figured I'd "pay it forward" and give him a sweet deal on the PC strip. Also, the cost replacement costs for 2 VHO bulbs was less per yr then replacement costs for the 4 65 watt PC bulbs.
The MH setup is very nice, as long as you don't have heat issues (I have a 20 gal sump, a fan on the canopy, and 1 beneath the stand, just in case). It can be done with PC, but the appearance of the tank is totally different. Here are pics of the same tank under PC for comparison.
Hope this helps.....

Thanks all. None of the corals bother each other.I may have had to pull a couple.but nothing serious. This tank has changed alot since it was first started. I have no heat issues..I have a 20L sump w/ ER skimmer,2 blueline external pumps,a closed loop,a fan over the sump, 3 fans in the canopy,my ballasts run cool because of the type they are,and I have a separate 29 gal refugium attached.
I also keep my A/C set on 70.

I will post a pic of before and after halides. I am usinf 2 250 halides and everything loves it. I am currently having problems with brown algae at the top of the tank but the snails seem to be slowly taking care of that. Also no problems so far with bleaching. I am using the new lights for 7 hours per day and plan to get them up to 9. I will use my CFs for about 2 hours.
Oh, I also use two fans for the temp and my temp doesn't move
