how did you set up the bubbles in the middle of your tank? are they in the tank itself or sectioned off (if that makes any sense)?
looks amazing

Those are not bubbles if I am not mistaken that is his central overflow with a bunch of coraline algae on it, i can understand why you might think that it is bubbles under the actinic, or 20 k lights that he has.
MURPH what kind of lighting do you use any ways?

your right fishgeek thats my overflow box and its really the only thing that grows coraline on it now the back glass barely gets any.... i think my clams and sps suck up the calcium too fast....
anyways i use 3-250W Phoenix 14K HQI bulbs on PFO pendants and HQI ballast....
i dont use any actinics at all .... i really like the color these bulbs give off and the growth they have too
any more colorful pictures out there??!?! ***)

One more ? for you Murph but i dont want to hi jack, when you say thats the only place coraline grows, did you have it on your rocks before your corals and inverts started using extreme amounts of calcium, i am having a problem with my coraline bleaching out and i think it is because my sps and lps corals are using all of the available calcium. is this a possiblility, For instance i have a plating monti that when i got it it was only 2"x3" now it is larger than any dinner plate i have in my house and has about 25 or 30 different "rims" and that is only one example of the growth i have seen, i also have hydnaphora, monti digi, acros, and an assortment of lps's

yeah u know what fishgeek when u have lots of calcium demanding corals like fast growing sps and lps.... coraline is some of the last to grow ....
most of my rock was tranferred from my old 100 9 months ago when i set this tank up..... i added some dead LR that was all white about 2-3 months ago and it hasnt growen any coraline on it as of yet....
at the LFS they have a 400G sps tank and all of there rock is brown ....
so yeah if u have fast growing corals they will take up the calcium faster than the coraline can grow
thanks NPC!
i started just like anyone else always like fish but never got a tank until i bought my house a lil over 3 years ago now the people left a 100G older tank there that was FO i slowly moved to reef then upgraded to this tank about 9 months ago when i really wanted to get into sps and the old tank wasnt setup for it.... so this go around i went all out and got all the right equipment
anyways this tank is made by Lee Mar out of san diego area in california....
its a 180G flat polished clear view glass with euro bracing tank.... the clear view is there version of starphire which is a low iron glass and appears clearer than your standard glass...
its a well built tank very clean in design and seam work.... i really like it

Well I can't argue with anything that you're saying considering that your tank and pictures both look incredible. So I'm going to play around with my settings on my camera some more before I do anything.
thanks
