the clam likes it between those rocks for some reason
and it is an odyssea fixture for a 55 gal tank thats why it is only on the left side of the tank
and there are no led's

Do you guys find it difficult to keep good water conditions with clams and sps since you have to dose so much phyto and whatnot?

I dont dose anything. so it is easy to keep good water quality, only phyto to the tank is when it is ocasionally on the glass and the mag float scrapes it into the water column. thats it.

i keep everything from soft corals to lps to sps and clams all in the same water. i dont dose anything . every now and then i spot feed the clams. but they get more then enough from the 3 400 watt MH. i do water changes on schedule and use IO salt. if i had more sps i would start to drip kalk but other then that i find need need for additives.

Do you add calcium or strontium or iodine or anything like that?

no nothing. the only think that has ever been added to this tank in the 4 years of its like and changes is a-b for the first few months and coralline stimulator for the first few months as well. other then that its been years since i added anything.

Good to know!! Then I am never buying chemicals again! Your tank is GORGEOUS and if there is no reason in me buying chemicals then why should I? You said u use instant ocean?

i am not saying that they dont have there place but i have just neever seen a need for them with proper water changes and good filtration systems. IF i had a full blown SPS reef i would then add a kalk drip. to help keep up with the growth and high use of ca. right now with my tank as is our ca stay at or near 500 all on its own

i am not saying that they dont have there place but i have just neever seen a need for them with proper water changes and good filtration systems. IF i had a full blown SPS reef i would then add a kalk drip. to help keep up with the growth and high use of ca. right now with my tank as is our ca stay at or near 500 all on its own
