Ok so today i went to my LFS and looked at some live rock ""i also whated some new lighting"
It is a bit more expensive then my other supplyer and nicer as well 9.99 pd he told me that it weights less to so i can get more bang for my buck :D
So thats all fine and dandy BUT
I have *2 6.500 k and 12 watt bulbs in my 10g
and he told me i can keep an anomnie Bubble tip, hammer coral, bubble coral, leater coral, mushrooms, candycane
and even a small clam IF i put it at the top of my tank where the most light is   is this all true or is he trying to rip me off
HELP ME PLEASE i joined this hobby because i enjoy reef keeping buttt i really dont need my tank going down

I would say definately on mushrooms, maybe on the bubble coral and the hammer, and no on any of the others. IMO.

He's right.
Personally, I wouldn't put a maxima or crocera in there, but other than that - it's fine.

I've got shrooms, zoo's, hammers, xenia, and frog spawn in my tank with 72watts. With the wattage you have, I'd stick to shrooms and some xenia. I wouldn't recommend the BTA nor the clam. IMHO (in my humble opinion) :)

that's a comparison rating.
What they're saying is your 12 watt PC bulbs are approximately as effective at lighting an area as a 50 watt incandesent bulb.
Doesn't mean your 24 watts becomes 100.. :)

i would say no to the anenome. Thats only 2.4 watts per gallon. It would be crawling to the top and still probalby wouldnt get the lighting it would need. I also agree that a 10 gallon tank would take a very short time for soemthing to go wrong, and the anenome to die. Id get another set of lights, like you were talkign about in a different post. Id stick with mushrooms and things.

well wats per gallon realy can be unaccurate, so i say that u should not, but invest in some powerful pcs. :joy:

i believe those 12W'ers are Normal Outputs (hagens?). like rubber suggests, maybe if you upgraded to PC's or VHO's you could do it. it's not easy but it's possible.
i'd set your sights lower then upgrade as you go. maybe 70W or 150W mh as your next upgrade. then you could have the clams and etc. (still difficult but you'd have the right equipment for the job at least).
