I have a 55 gal thats been up since August. I have studied (I thought) all that needs to be checked on the care of a successful sw tank. I have fish, crabs, snails, and corals. Everything is going good! Did the cycle, test kit for amonia, nitrates, nitrites, all in line. So, I asked my lfs last week why I was not seeing any coraline growing and she asked me what my calcium level was. Hmmm whats that? Anyway, I purchased 2 test kits one for calcium and of for KH. Along with a bottles of seachem reef carbon and seachem reefadvantage. Got home and did the tests and low and behold my levels where off. So I added both as directed. Waited 3 days and tested again. The levels where a little better but still not right so I added again. This may be my mistake, now my torch coral looks like its dying, it is turning slimy brown. Do I need to wait two weeks and test again or do I keep adding until the levels are where they need to be? p.s. do I need to get rid of the coral? Will it grow back?
