I'm looking for a good lfs in the atlanta area. I have been to a couple, one in particular had zero customer service qualities. They were located in the buckhead area. Know of any others?

Yes, I know lots of very good ones. Let me know what exactly you are looking to buy as different stores are the best in different areas (dry goods, corals, fish etc). Also check out the Atlanta Reef Club. They offer a 10% discount at many of the Atlanta LFS with membership.

At this point, I will be looking for a clean up crew. I'm not going to be in the market for fish for about 3-4 weeks. Just finishing my cycle. Ammonia and trites are down to 0. Going to reduce the trates with a 20% wc. So looking for hermits, snails, shrimp etc.
Will check out the reef club, thanks for the heads up.

To be honest, you get a lot more bang for your buck if you order your clean up crew from an online store like this one. Whenever you are looking in to trying corals go to Cappuccino Bay. Their coral holding tanks rival anything I have ever seen. They could charge admission if they wanted.

I think I am going to get a crew online. If you know of any other stores I would appreciate it, I am in the Chamblee area in atlanta, close to spaghetti junction.

Craig, have you ever been to aquabuys or nemo fish store, just trying to get an idea of how they interact with their customers. I have been to a couple here, and I feel as if I am a ghost when I walk in.

Marine Fish in Marrieta is great. They have a ton of stuff, all healthy and give a HUGE discount (30% off) to Atlanta Reef Club members. Also Poseidon's Reef is great too. It's a hike up I-985, but well worth it. They actually have marine fish in quantity and quality, and at a fair price. The Aviarium by Gwinett Place Mall is pretty decent too. Fish Store and More has good livestock but at a price. I still say Cappuccino Bay is the best though.

I will check all out, I joined as a free member of atlanta reef club since you turned me onto it, and seriously thinking about becoming a paying member. Thank you for the advice. As for fish store and more, I will never step foot in there again, the customer service is TERRIBLE! IMO.

Will you be at this meeting on Tuesday? What can be expected?

I will not be able to go this Tuesday because I am going to see my girlfriend perform but I should be at the next one. You can expect from the meetings to meet a lot of other area hobbyists, some just starting out and others that have a wealth of knowledge. Many of them will bring pieces of coral to trade, sell, or give away. There will be a program (this month Cameron will be giving a presentation on the different types of skimmers and the advantages of each) ranging from how to frag corals, how to medicate fish, different methods of care to just about anything related to the hobby. You will usually learn something every time. They also have raffles and auctions sometimes too. I got my skimmer for a steal at one meeting (Turboflotor 1000 multi for $150 new).

It sounds like a no-brainer to go to these meetings then. Do you have any info on this salwaterU, it is worth the cost to go?

Don't really know about the saltwaterU thing. I didn't go to the last one. If you are just getting started in saltwater though it might be a good idea.
