LFS's in Pittsburgh

Hey everyone I was looking for some good LFS's in Pittsburgh. We deal a LOT with Wet Pets and just started with Elmer's but I was hoping to find some others as well. The more opinions/options we have the better! I live the south hills so I think we've covered all of those little places but I'm always up for trying more!

Welcome fellow Burgh'er. There is a decent store in Cranberry that has a lot of saltwater stock, looks to be in good shape. From my experience and visiting different stores, you cannot go wrong with Wet Pets. They seem to have the biggest selection and it is all in good shape. Also, there is a store on Perry Highway somewhere, but never been there. The store on Ohio River Blvd. near Ben Avon, Kilbuck is not so nice. Stopped in once and was not impressed.

not sure where in the south hills you live but if your close to the parkway I would take a look at Petland in Robinson town center they dont have a huge selection but they will get anything in that you wont. He also wont sell any fish until he gets them to eat. The other place that I go to was already mentioned and that is aquaworld on 65 (the place that dosent looks so nice). HAve never had a problem with any of the fish that I have bought there. Plus they tend to have better prices.

Have you ever visited Seahorse in Allison Park on route 8 just south of the turnpike, they have some awesome corals most of the time, a decent selection of fish too, but not to many inverts. Sometimes prices are a little high, but well worth the trip. Try the Petland by Elmers the have some good deals some times, at one time you could dicker on prices, but not sure if they still do that.
If you make it to Seahorse, let me know what you think.

there is atlantis on 51 by baldwin high school. the guy that owns it just got out of freshwater and is focusing on salt. he does a lot of custom tank setups. i love the guys at wet pets, they are know their stuff but i find them overpriced. aquaworld on 65 in emsworth is a pretty dingy store but they have some good prices and unique stuff. there was recently a frag swap in monroeville and i got a lot of good deals there.

Thanks guys! I do love the guys at Wet Pets but, like you said, they are overpriced. We did check out Aquaworld the other day and a couple of their clowns appeared to have ich so I was a little skeptical about their quality after that! I think we're gonna try to head out to Seahorse this weekend and the Petland by Elmers too to start getting some prices to see what we have to work with. I'm very nervous about ordering over the internet because I work long days and I'm never home to get my packages so I need to find all the local guys I can!

Try Pet Supplies Plus in Bridgeville, they are in the plaza with k-mart and home depot. They have a pretty god selection and prices are pretty average. They always have a good price on salt if you use IO.

I frequent wet pets but Prefer to buy corals from Aqua-world (store doesn't look so nice but their corals and so far from what i have seen their other livestock seems to be in good health). Aqua world will also have a wider selection of corals and a better price than wet pets imo. Example i bought a ricordea at AW and saw one of similar size and color for $100 more at wet pets. I am not a fan of Petland in robinson due to the dogs they keep in those tiny cages but the little bit of Saltwater stuff they have seems to be in decent shape. Pet supplies plus in bridgeville gets some decent corals from time to time but I have seen ich and dead fish in their tanks also. All the others mentioned i have heard good and positive reviews about but have never been there. Always worth a trip to check out new stores as far as i'm concerned.
wet pets coral tanks have ALOT of aiptasia

If you want to take a trip to Lancaster, PA you should try That Fish Place, I really like it. They have great prices on fish, corals, inverts, and supplies. I make a 2 hour trip every once in a while to shop there.
