Anyone know of any good local fish stores in the Northwest, Oregon, Washington? I mean......GOOOOD LFS's.

For fish go to Saltwater Fantaseas, for coral go to the Seahorse Aquarium. Both are in Portland. Some of the advise you will get at the Seahorse will shock you, just giving you fair warning in advance.

So I drove 4 hours to Fanta seas today, ...quite dissapointed. lol.
dam! lol, i also live in oregon about 1 hour and 15 mins from portland and was wondering about some good SWF stores. so did they not have sa good selection?

There wasn't a lot of selection, fish wise, the choices were pretty generic, sail fin tangs, perculas, wrasses, tangs, and a few triggers. Maybe I just have too high of expectations. I didn't think there was anything WRONG per say with the store, just not what i was looking for.

That particular store churns through fish like crazy. They pushed over 100 fish in one day a while ago. I always call to see when a new shipment is arriving. I have seen some awesome stuff there, but have also gone when it was a ghost town as far as selection. Sorry for the bad recommendation.

No worries, your reccommendation was not bad, It was a neat store, just not what I was looking for.
I will certainly go there again in the near future, thank you.

actually I have a funny story to go along with the store.
When my wife and I were driving to Portland, we 411'd the number, we asked for fantaseas, they operator told us the number was 239-6969. So we called the store and asked them their hours, to our surprise she told us they were open 24 hours a day. As the day went along we finally got around to going there and we needed directions, so we called 239-6969 again and they told us they were off sandy blvd. so we go to sandy blvd and see fantaseas, and went to go in and the door was locked, we looked at the hours and it said 3pm-7pm. We were completely confused and went to call them again, when I happened to look at the window and it had a completely different number. I asked her "is that the number you called?" "no" she said and I called 239-6969 and asked them if they sold fish, they said "Fish?! we're a ---- store" lol...Hilarity ensued. Coincidental that both "fantasies" (adult shop) and Fantaseas (LFS) were both on the same exit. and right next to each other.

That is fricken hilarious!

I'm not loyal to any one saltwater store, but that store can and will locate the most exotic of fish.
Next time you go, make sure to you go to the Seahorse because it's only like 10 minutes away.
