its used to not light-shocked ur corals or inverts. for example, corals that came from pc light will need to adjust to t5 or mh. u start off by puting the corals low in the tank, then gradually move them up over a period of days or weeks. but if a coral came from high lighting like mh or t5, then to a pc light tank, then light acclimation is not neccesary.
