are there any other good drivers that are dimmable that could handle 4 strings of 12 like the CLG 150-48As or am i better off going with 4 60-48D drivers

Have you decided on a total number of leds yet? The only other good ones are the HLG185H 48B drivers. They can do something like upto 60 leds in series or 140 in parallel. Or the HLG 150H 48B driver, can do 48 leds in series. But so far I can't find anybody who's offering them to the public yet unless you have a business tax i.d. # I'm still searching.
I would say you're just fine going with the 60-48's. That's what most everybody else is using who is going dimmable has been using. There are some who say you don't want to go with a large number of those drivers, once you start getting over 6 of them together. Something about the harmonics go out of wack and can be dangerous to the wiring in your house. Haven't seen any concrete evidence on that as of yet though. I think you're safe with 4 for sure. I know there are guys out there using twice that who haven't reported any problems.

Well Thats not scary at all......... That does make me nervous tho being ive got this tank in my office, of course it would still scare me if it was in my house too. I think I will go with the 60-48Ds and am going to start off making one of those and then getting a second one when i can afford it.
Also what angle optic would be best for that height tank(2')?

Also has anyone tried making a heatsink with any success on not needing a bunch of fans on it or is it best just to go with the heatsink usa ones?

I have another question for you all. The tank is drilled with 2 1 1/2 inch bulkheads for the overflow but no holes for the return. The overflows are located in the middle below the main brace and i believe he said its a glass-holes.com kit. would it be better to make the return in the corners or have the return come from the middle and point out twords the corners.

Hmm...if the choice were mine I would probably split the return line and run them to both corners of the tank. And then I might run two nozzles in each corner, one pointing down into the tank and one pointing towards the surface. I guess my logic would be to have the clean water coming in to help push the dirty water towards the center to the overflow. Just an idea.

That was what i was thinking but didnt know for sure. Since my current pump is a rio 2100 and pushes 695 GPH (365 after head loss) was thinking about getting a second one just like it if not alittle bigger and just running 2 lines separate from each other. Not sure how well that would work tho.

2 pumps in a single sump will work. You're just gonna sacrifice a little more room in the sump and possibly add a little extra heat transfere is all. Are you certain that your bulkheads are 1 1/2"...just currious.

yep just measured and the actual hole in the back glass is 2 3/8" and the inside diameter of the bulkhead is 1 3/4. hmm not sure i like the extra heat issue of course i am going with LED so that should reduce some heat thats already in the tank.

Alright so i have been trying to decide what type of LEDs to go with. Either the Cree XP-G R5 or the XR-E Q5. Also for the royal blues there are the XR-Es or the XP-E. I see that the XRs have more optic choices but i have read that the XPs are better/more powerful bulbs. What is what here and which are better. Also what optics would i need and how high above the tank would they need to be.
