I am currently running 4 vho, 2 blue and 2 actinic white.
Question is, I am using two actinics for dusk to dawn and after about an hour or so whites come on. My blue lights are on the outside and 2 whites in the middle. Should I change my configeration so that I have one blue one white ect for a better effect ? Also could I have one blue and one white come on for my dusk and dawn effect and have another blue and white come on latter?
Will tank be good the way I have current set up ?
thanks much in advance for all your great imput and sharing your knowledge

Is this a fish only tank or do you have corals and such? Are you doing this to simulate the sunrise and sunset?

The tank has sofites and fish. Yes I am doing this to simulate sunrise and sunset. Doing this method reduces stress in tank,, because light intensity is increased instead of just blasing everyone with bright lights. Corals need the dusk to dawn effect more then just fowlers or fish only tanks.

If they are all VHO bulbs then the wattage getting into the water should be the same regardless of if you run one blue and one white, or if you run 2 blues. I would say that it is personal preference as to what color you want everything to show up as during the sunrise and sunset periods, but I'm not an expert either.

27 mtaylor, I would have to agree with you, think I will try alternating blues and whites to see what that effect would be. I know the total wattage would be the same however, was wondering if the different light spectrums would interupt the effect that I am going for,, ? Oh well,, I am no expert myself only been in hobby for about 6 months,,,, already went from a 40gallon to a 75,,,LOL addicted to it now,,
