i just got new coral and i dont know how much time the lights should be on. before i got the coral i would leave them off for about 11 hours. should they need more light or less?
I run my lights for 8 hours 3 400w 20k MH and the rest of the time my moon lights are on...
but you will need to find out what works for you and how much you want to see you tank with the lights on with out getting a ton of algae...
try to mimic the natural day/night light cycle as best as you can. i have it like this-8 hours of daylight and the actinics are ran for 2 hours in the morning, and 2 hours in the evening, overlapping the daylights, for a total of 12 hours.
