Light Fixture fell into my Sump!!!

i have a 50 gallon reef tank w/Sump underneath the tank. last night, my light fixture fell in the sump due to my 19 month old nephew being left unattended. i do not know how long it was in there for, as i only noticed it once i got home from work.
there was the appearance of black smoke in the water. i do not know how long this was circulating into the main tank. i changed all of the water in the sump that night. the very next day, i changed 15 gallons of water in the main tank.
tonight (the night after the incident), my corals don't look all that happy. star polyps barely come out...same with the pipe organ and the zoo's. my pulsing xenia's are closed up. and so is my maxima clam. all of my fish seem fine.
my question to you fine people....what can i do to better the situation? is there anything i can add or put in the tank that might help?
i do not have any carbon currently running in my system. might that help?...anything else?
my levels all seem fine (i.e., ammonia, nitrates, pH)

Carbon and water changes.
It is also extremely important that you connect all tank electronics to a GFI. These can be in line or the outlets in the room can be replaced with GFI outlets. These will trip like a circuit breaker and cut of electric to the system when they detect voltage leaks/surges.
You are vary lucky this situation did not result in fire or electrocution. Further proof that God does indeed watch over toddlers and drunks.

Yep, definitely continue to do water changes and run carbon constantly.
I am glad that it did not result in major problems, though.

thanks for the advice. i was able to get 2 packs of Chemi-pure from a friend to put in the sump. he's been telling me to get one of those GFI things for the outlet. i'll definitely get one of those now.
i will do another 15 gallon water change on friday. maybe another on sunday.
