50/50 and actinic blue lights if you want coraline purple algea, full sectrum lights for green Calupera. I use 1 48" Blue actinic 1 48" 50/50 . 1 24" blue actinic and 1 24" 50/50.
high outputs are better. metal halides are better too. it all depends and want kind of growth you want. blue light is the most light in the lower areas of the natural reef the water filters out the reds and yellow orange wave lengths the deeper you go.Blue light has a short wave length to find its way deeper through the water. i have a friend that uses no lights at all he says its a deep enviroment tank, hehee...

I had the cheapo lights that came with my 55 setup from walmart and my coraline did great, grew more by the day with NO additives.
