A Watt is a watt.
10,000k spectrum color= 10,000k spectrum color.
24" deep tank = 24" deep tank.
The type of light, ie. PC, VHO, T-5, MH, etc. really doesn't matter except for space/mounting issues. I think it is important for some of the newer hobbyists to be able to understand that.
Actinic means photoactive light. There are actinic white bulbs and actinic blue.
Choose the lighting combination that is most pleasing to you. The fish don't care!
Don't get caught up in 'watts per gallon.' It is a very vague guide only. More importantly, item placement (photosynthetic items), depth of tank, and intensity of light, are the most helpful.
to say the least, watts per gallon doesn't account for water displacement for your sand bed/substrate, the rocks, etc.
Just had to get that off my chest.

The type of light does matter... the intensity of the light is very very important.
Catawaba- Are you Catawba (from the Catawba tribe in the south)?
