thanks guys I think I will run mine for 12 hours like in nature/ocean. Good luck to me.
I am a noob but i disagree. In our tanks the lights are one for 8-12 hrs everday. In nature there is a thing called cloudy days and sometimes it is like this for a week. Also our lights are full blast or 8 hrs or more. In nature the sun is only full blast when its right above, from 1100 til about 200 i would say.
We try to mimic nature in everyway but the light IMHO. I think the ideal set-up would be for our lights to be on 12 hrs but gradually climb from a dim setting to a high setting and then go dim again.
Alot of people run their lights at night also but i think that the fish know its not light outside, the gravitational pull of the moon lets the fish know that somethings wrong.
To best mimic nature our bright lights should only be on about 3 hrs a day.
NOW this is all opinion from a noob and i like everyone else run a 8 hr BLAST cycle but i think it's wrong. I just have nothing but speculation to prove it.
