in a 55 gallon tank. what would a 100 watt pc light be good for??? as in some mushrooms
/??? polyps???

I wouldn't think it would be good except for a fish only tank. Mushrooms may do OK, but a 55gl it kind of tall and PC does not have very good light output. The price of T5s is not high at all for many of the fixtures available and retro kits even less so. This would be the way to go if you are wanting to keep some corals. Besides, the price of replacement PC bulbs is not very good at all IMO. Replace bulbs a couple times and you have purchased a decient T5 outfit.

i use to have less then 100w of pc on my 90g..with just some mushrooms which did pretty good.....but when i upgraded to MH..the shrooms did waaay better..one sign if the shrooms are wanting more light is when they extend from the rock towards the light....if u have enough light, they will stay flat to the rock and really spread out..thats wat i noticed when i upgraded my lights..but anywho..u should be fine with shrooms..zoas and palys on the other hand will require a little more light..
