is this enough to promote coraline algae growth?
1 48" 10,000 K (40 watts)
1 48" actinic (40 watts)
2 18" trichromatic (15 watts each)

While I was waiting for new VHO lights for my 75, I had 3 no bulbs over the tank (actinic, 50/50 and 10k). It really didn't help the coraline growth. Once the VHOs went on the coraline began to grow.

It'll be close. I had 120w of NO light, including 40w actinic over my 75 for a long time. I got some coraline growth, but it was slow, and only on the rocks.

we just got our twip strip canopies today and it made a difference from just the 2 18" trichromatics... i think that we'll be keeping these lights for a while.. then, next year if we don't get a bigger tank, we'll just upgrade the lighting for a reef tank...
thanks a lot.. i think that i'll just be patient to watch the coraline grow..
