Lighting An Eclipse

I have a 29 gallon eclipse saltwater setup and I was wondering if anyone has one. My question is Would it be safe to mount extra high wattage lights onto my eclipse without it melting the plastic hood? I'm just curious to know if anyone has done this and had no problems.THANKS!!

The sticker inside mine says 18 watts max for bulbs. You might be able to put a whole new fixture in there for all I know though.

I have a 25 gallon eclipse 2, and I bought a current usa "Satellite" fixture and cut the whole front half of the eclipse hood of and put the new fixture in its place. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but I'm more of a gitter-dunner and it got the job done. Its not too bad looking though, I put a piece of glass under it and the whole nine.
